My inspiration is derived from the abstraction suggested by nature, by the illuminating way in which superficial elements interrelate to create a window to a profound truth. By examining my surroundings deeply, enhanced by the magnifying and isolating power of a camera, my intuition is heightened. I become sensitive to the essential beauty that pervades everything. By juxtaposing the sharpness of the photographic image with texture and brush stroke, my work challenges the observer to consider the myriad facets of existence – the physical and the spiritual, the ephemeral and the eternal – in determining an inclusive, informed concept of reality.
