About Intuitive Artist, Joanna Whitney

I have had extensive training as an artist. I know how to draw from life, how to paint from life, how to compose a picture so that it is visually compelling. I know color theory and how to conceptualize a piece to illustrate and idea. With that background, I can really make use of intuitive painting. My challenge, as an intuitive painter, is to forget everything I think I know and delve into the realm of possibility. I don't use mental ideas to begin and I only use my brain once the composition is set. Some people might say that I use randomness to create my work, but I don't believe that anything is random. I believe that the Universe is created and guided by a Creative Force which many call God, and I rely on It to create through me.	Joanna Whitney has her Masters in Fine Arts from iEAR Studios, RPI1994. She has been practicing and teaching Intuitive Painting since 1988. She has taught in New York City, & Woodstock, NY, at Sangre De Cristo Arts Center & the Jung Society in Pueblo, CO, Colorado Free University, Ken Caryl Art Guild, as well as teaching as an Adjunct Professor of fundamental art courses at the Art Institute of Colorado and at Red Rocks Community College. Joanna is a Fine Artist who supports herself by selling her work and teaching. She lives a spiritual way of life in Denver, CO
